Just a quick plug for a web event happening next week called The Boom Effect. The event will start on Saturday, February 27th at 10AM Eastern time via UStream.
This charity drive is a live, online auction to raise money for the trust fund of Tee Morris’ daughter who lost her mother on January 5, 2010. There will be at least 5 hours of entertainment hosted by Podcasting’s Rich Sigfrit. We’ll be in the live audience cheering everybody on, and likely on camera on the main feed as well. It’s shaping up to be a really fun time. You’ll be able to bid from the chat room, through e-mail, proxy-bid on the website, and I think via video or audio on Skype or UStream.
And with over 70 items up for auction (so far!!) there is something for everyone to get excited about and bid for! Everything from jewelry, to pictures, paintings by celebrities, custom music, book dedications, food, clothes, signed DVDs and books, knitwear, and even Mozart’s Balls!! Seriously, go check out everything up for auction!
Hope to see you there!
It seems that our web host updated something which broke the podcast feed. Since there were a whole bunch of things that I’ve been meaning to update/fix that would have disrupted the feed as well, I’m taking the opportunity to address them all now.
One nasty side effect (which I absolutely hate as a listener) is that it may have caused the feed to puke up every episode as if they were new. I’m really, really sorry if it hits you. It’s something that happens now and then with podcast feeds 🙁
At this point, I think that I have the feed updated and working correctly. That was priority 1, so now I can start working on the other stuff. None of this other stuff should effect the feed, but it means that the site will be plain vanilla for awhile, and you might have some login errors until it stabilizes. I’m particularly worried about the integration between the blog, forum, and photo gallery. I’ll get the problems sorted out as quickly as I can!
Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.
Its been awhile but, honestly, there hasn’t been much news to speak of! But what there is of it is here – along with the feedback that we never posted from Episode 40.
We’ve got over 100 comments still waiting to be recorded, but they’re going to get their own episode 🙂
In this episode we discuss:
The good news: Viv and I recorded 3 hours of content for the show! This included news about i13 on test, with some of the coming features, the third installment of Fantastic Foes IO feature, and plenty of feedback.
The bad news: A nemesis plot has been unleashed to stop this content from seeing the light of day. Dark operatives have doused our beloved Macbook with soda rendering it inoperative!!
Our best scientists have the device dismantled and are fastidiously working to save it. Another group of top agents are mounting a data recovery mission. They are attempting to get the harddrive to an extraction point so that the contents can be rendered to a Windows compatible drive so that they can then be edited.
Fear not, fair listeners, the content WILL be saved. How long, however, is a mystery only time will bear out.
This is just a quick check-in that the episode will post later this week. Thanks to everybody who came out for the listener meet-up! It was a lot of fun and great to virtually meet so many of you!
In case anybody tried to surf around the site or register tonight; sorry about any problems. I was doing some major testing on forums, blog, and gallery integration.
I wasn’t completely satisfied with the results, so I just reverted everything back to the was it was before I started messing with it. I have a lot of editing and real world work to do tomorrow, so not sure if I’ll be able to work on it again until mid-week.
I just noticed that the site looks kinda goofy in Internet Explorer 6 right now. I’m a Firefox user and frequently forget to check IE compatibility. I just so happened to check and – yikes..
Yeah, I’ll work on that. but not tonight, its bedtime!

In the spirit of giving! More Prestige!

In the words of Oliver Twist, “Please, Sir, can I have some more?”
With this morning’s maintenance, we had intended to run the prestige grant and debt wipe on the Training Room Test Servers. However, it looks like some villains snuck in and crossed a few wires and it was applied to all the live servers.
Oh well! We hope you all enjoy the added bonus!

Viv verified earlier today that one of our SGs indeed jumped from a 3 million influx to a 6 million influx. It will be interesting to hear how many SG leaders immediately did a purge of “filler” members right after the initial prestige grant, only to miss out on the metric ton of icing on the cake!
In addition to this flub, the devs actually released the defiance changes, animation changes, and delivered two new costume sets today! Yep, there’s your sneak peak on our next news cast 🙂
Oh, and in case you didn’t notice the bright red letters to the left, we now have a proper voicemail line. Feel free to give us a ring and leave comments, feedback, suggestions, or corrections: 206-338-2911
… and just news. After editing we came to a couple of conclusions. 1) the podcast is too long – wait, we already knew that – but despite attempts, its even longer than the last one, lol. 2) there is too much news right now to keep the Factions discussion as well as news and a main topic.
In light of this, we are going to take a page out of The Command Line‘s playbook and split the podcast into two weekly episodes. At least for the foreseeable future. The first weekly episode (the one attached) will be all news – both about the game, and what’s going on with us. The second weekly episode will be a main topic.
The combined length will still be around an hour and all told will contain the same content, just in more digestible sizes. Also, people that only like one type of content or the other can ignore the files of the type they don’t like.
Let us know what you think!
