Episode 39 – Feedbackapaloosa

We present to you, our new record holder – 3 hours and 12 minutes… It had to be done.. As of the recording time, we were all caught up on feedback. Not so much any more, but close 🙂

Though mostly feedback, in the ep we do present some news up front, and some fluffy surprises along the way!

Excellent. Now there is a COH Podcast long enough for me to listen to whilst I do my chores around the house. I hope your job search goes well Viv.

I’ll second Countryboy’s wishes for a speedy and successful job search.

Should there be a hiatus, I recommend you direct all your tweets to a robotic text reader and podcast that, as your twittering chatter amuses me. And as you pointed out, it’s all about me.

Thanks for the details on Day Jobs, I’ve been waiting for more info, and this gets the wheels turning on which character needs which accolade.

Thanks again!

Wow that is long, I’m so intimidated by the longinest I havn’t even started listening!!

Well…
It took me the whole time before the store opened, my entire lunch break, and some cheating during the slow periods at work but I finally got the whole episode listened too.

It’s a good cast with a lot of information and fun bits, but (and I hate to be saying something negative like this)
… it’s too long.
I think if you have to skip over some of the feedback to keep it shorter, it should be considered. Yes, you can even skip over all my “YAY’ feedback if it’ll knock off enough time to keep the glassy-ear effect from happening.

Besides the length, I enjoyed the cast immensely, and it made a crappy work day go by a lot faster.

BRUTES ARE TANKERS DONE RIGHT???? GAAAHHHHHHH!

I cannot let this pass! (But I promise the email I am about to compose will not be flammable. Or is it not inflammable? Flammable/Inflammable, what’s up with that?)

Criswell, if I can offer a piece of advice on easing into teaming, try to duo or trio first, the enemy group sizes is more forgiving and any archetype combo works well. Once you get into the 8 man groups, things are less forgiving. I’ll say more about this in my non-flaming email to that Chooch fellow…

WOOT!! I heard myself for the rest time eVAH on your podcast!! I am taking your Podcast by STORM!! Wait… what’s that way over there?

I have been neglecting Viv on my questions so I’ll be asking her this time, sorry Chooch, get your own woman.

I don’t think Masterminds get enough credit on this podcast…

“..Mastermidns are just blasters with diffrent angle…”
Episode 17 when u intervied that guy

“… I only played a mastermind to levle 2…”
Last episode

Let me tell you something, masterminds are the most awesomesaucy dudes/women in this game, they require the most binds and macros and are UBER fun. They are the best soloers “I ignores u farmers for right now, It’s mastemrind’s special day” and solo AV’s with ease and were actually meant to be the tanks of CoV believe it or not.

However if u guys rolled a mercs/FF mastermind I can understand why u don’t like it. Mercsa re the worst damage and worst overall and Force Field is a lazy man’s set.

How about I make a mastermind guide for you. Uh oh I jsut got sucked in like Phantatic Foe, Great… let me sees if I can do this right…

ZOMG IT’S VIV!!

*faint and bumbs head on table*

ow…, Pat still got’s master of low blood sugar title 😛

And another thing Viv, how do u play kheldians without getting boooord, I did a Synapse Task force *My first task force* for 5 hours and stared at a Dwarfs Back for about 3 of those hours. That was a bit… unappealing and made me put my level 21 PB on the shelf and my level 12-14 Warshade next to it.

I’m glad you all liked my fight intro. I have to give Chooch credit for assembling it to perfection. One of the features of an eMac is that the mic is built in. This is also one of its problems, as it picks up the internal fan noise perfectly. I sto … AHEM … borroeed the sound effects I found on the web, and sent that as a package to Chooch, with a guide as to what sounds should go where. His mixing and editing made it sound just SOOOOO good.

Da Mastermind…

I recently took a Kheldian to 50. If looking at the Dwarf form’s rear end for hours is not your cup of tea, I’d recommend a human-only Peacebringer. I think my PB was perhaps my favorite run to 50, and I soloed most of the way.

I buddy of mine loves his warshades, but he’ll tell you it takes awhile before the become awesome killing machines. But then they are… awesome… killing… machines.

I would like to see some more archetype discussion on the podcast, as you suggested for Masterminds. (I would mention that my highest MM is a merc/ff, but you already called that one out as lame, so I will hide under the radar…)

Fantastic Foe

Everything else was culled from discussions on the show – epaulets, the miniskirt bug, “VicoViv”, “ChoochiChoochiChoo”, and of course, the last line. I recorded each line separately, appending as I went, checked it, rerecorded it if needed, and believe it or not, it took about an hour to lay the voice track (with the noise of the eMac fan). I have no idea how much time Chooch spent mixing in the sound effects, and the extended crowd background to mask that nasty internal fan, as he had by adding the COH podcast music to my “City Of Knupples Podcast” intro (again to cover the fan noise.) Yes, they were MY creations, but it was Chooch who gave them LIFE! GIVE MY CREATIONS LIFE!

Oh and Viv, I did notice you saying that it was all about you, and not all about me.

In deference to your awesomeness, it would be ungentlemanly of me to contest the point. Chooch, it can be all about you as well.

And hey, I’ve been working out, so I’m less likely to pass out at a momen*thud*

If I had thought about it in time, I could have added a special guest referee to the Epic Chooch v. Viv battle – “Two Second Troy” Hickman.

Wow, BIG CAST, Yaaaa! I’m only about 2/3 of the way through. (The RSS monkeys kept the last third for themselves, I guess. So I’m back to get the rest of it.)

Lots to comment on, so I’ll do a couple now and catch-up later.

1) Audio blocked again, drat. Wait…did Chooch say “segment”, as in regular feature?!? Squeeee!!! Oh, wait, didn’t they say they might go on hiatus? Drat! I so fizzled I’m not sure how I should feel. Huh.

2) Odd thing about Paragon city: First, it makes internal sense that heroes have to take the train (But not the boats, that one still doesn’t make sense) since there are the “war walls” separating the different sections of the city that are supposed to slow/prevent the spread of the Rikti when they come back. Seems not to work very well for the intended purpose but does make more cash for the Paragon City Transit Authority with all the supes dropping their tokens in.

However, here we are, powerful Heroes and Villains that can lift trucks, blast buildings to bits and fly the length and breadth of the city (War Walls not withstanding) and yet common citizens who cower at the sight of level one thugs can just push a level 50 player character down the street if we get in their way! Not only can’t we do anything to them, particularly the villains in this case, but they don’t even have the decency to say “excuse me”. Ungrateful louts!

3) I can’t wait to try out the “day jobs” feature. It’ll be interesting to see what matches up with the “clubber”. What, hang out at the University to qualify for the “Frat Boy” Accolade? Or maybe the cemetery to get the “Goth Chick/Raver” badge? Hehe, the possibilities are endless.

That’s it for now, let me get the rest of the episode on the ‘puter so I can soak in the tasty goodness. Later.

I’m also only about 2/3 of the way through the episode:

1) sorry to hear about the possibility of a hiatus, understand the necessity and know that you 2 need some time for real life.

2) glad to hear that when you *do* cast, you’re keeping the same format, I think it works, most of us like it, and if it ain’t broke…

3) saw a comment that said the ‘cast was too long, I think that’s a rarity and with the feedback, and the length of time since the last ‘cast, there was a lot of info to put out there.

4) speaking of the length of the podcasts, Viv’s job hunting, being pressed for time, and possible hiatus, I think that I would like to see shorter podcasts more often, than longer ones les often. For example, a 30 minute one every 2 weeks, rather than a 1 hour episode once a month. Now if the actual mechanics of getting out the podcast are such that it’s just as much trouble to get out a 20-30 minute podcast as it is to get out an hour long one, then it probably would be more time-effective to put out the hour long episode. If that makes any sense. Or maybe you guys could just record bits every so often and stitch them together and release them every so often.

5) I’d also like to see more AT discussion. I think I have an alt of just about every AT, but I’ve always gone like/like: fire/fire, ice/ice, energy/energy, etc but lately I’ve been trying different combos, like energy/ice and assault rifle/mental blast…some work well, others…meh.

Just a few quick comments before work ….

Finally finished listening to the megacast. For the person who wanted more basic info on binds you should check out “THE WHOLLY UNOFFICIAL AND FAIRLY INCOMPLETE GUIDE TO /BIND” on the official forums (at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Number=371472). I t was a good place to start for me.
Also congratulations to Cooch’s level 50 blaster on coming out of the closet. He only missed National Coming Out Day by two days. Seems appropriate that he’s a blaster – as Frankie Goes to Hollywood said:
“Got to hit me
Hit me
Hit me with those laser beams”

Man, what FLUFF… Ok, I am still listening to it, but here are a few observations! Yes, I am leaving ovservations…. What, you didn’t think I could type?

1) Uniforms don’t have to be Drycleaned, when Icons make sure they are all self cleaning! It’s a comic book world, go with it people!

2) At this point, you two have to Copywrite Knupples. Surely, if you don’t someone else will, and that will be the Academy award winning movie of 2010. Where are you going to be then? Hmmm, Crying in your virtual drink at Pocket D!

3) Galaxy City – I see there are one of two ways to get to lvl 5 or 6, one is grinding out missions, the other is in the sewers. If you have done the missions in Atlas and then done the missions in Galaxy, you find out quickly, if you want that Raptor pack, you head to the sewers and get those first 5 out of the way. I mean, once you have been through 20, 30, 100 or so alts, is there really a reason to do those early missions…. Unless of course as The temptress of Knupples points out, it’s so you can buy inspirations later. I am all for a Final HUGE Rikti Demolition of Galaxy, let it be reborn… Then again, I am an undercover agent for CHAOS (name that show)…. and a firm believer in bringing the machine to it’s knees… after all, who wants to keep a ‘day job’, when you can illicit criminal activity to stop. No, it’s not a consiracy.. really it’s not…. Seriously though, I don’t think I ever do any ‘real’ missions, till after the three scanner missions and a bank robbery anymore.

4) Day Night, Night, Day…. I have heard (I don’t play that way, not that there is anything WRONG with that) that in WOW, the time is actually real time, hence night is at night, and day time is well, during the day. But they also have different servers in different time zones to accomodate that. I doubt it would work in Coh, but it would almost be nice if that was a bit more realistic.

5) Viv would NEVER EVER be be fussy over how a task force is run, and certainly not the Trancensance Trial! For, she isn’t ever fussy over ANYTHING!

6) I love the idea of a feature/section, of things that don’t make sense in Coh, I think that should be added as it’s own Forum. When you have 5 or 10 from it, you can go over them in a cast. This should create great hilarity, for if anything is certain… Programmers leave more logic holes then those illogical pesky humans.

7)Fushionette? What can I say. She loves me. She tests this love by constantly seeing if I will continue showing up to rescue her. She has trust issues this way. It’s really not the little vixens fault, it’s all that baggage she carries with her. But please… For the love of Posi, someone get that adrenaline chick under control! I call for an intervention on the Champion Server Sat night Thursday, December 17, 2009. There, now I got everyone hooked for another year, and it’s all for a good cause.

8) Finally —- Chooch’s Moral Compass? Please, tell me he doesn’t have one, I will loose all respect, if I find out it’s simply needs calibrating. Cause Dude, I thought you were on board with the Siegler plan!

Oh, and one more thing… Not to hurt Nail Bunny’s feelings or even our esteemed host.. but its not about them. It’s about me. Me and my boring drive to work. So get in the Burrow and record something … Anniversary be damn!

Thought I was gone didn’t ya. Nope. Criswell is the Michael Buffer of COH Podcast…. And yes, I want 10% of his Royalties for saying that.

This is worse than the disappearance of Nod!!

Chooche Chooeche Choo!!

Vico Viv!!

Where are my favcortie podcasters?!?!
